As with all else on this cradle & most all of my projects I just "shoot from the hip" usually paying the consequence in the end but hey thats how I roll.
I really didn't have to much of a plan on how to achieve the 15° angle, except my table saw
Here is what 15° looks like to the piece of wood while its approaching the spinning 10" blade!
The first side I cut
I sure hope that'll sand out!
Here are both sides showing the angle
Time to mock it up with clamps
yet more clamps and other holding device
Please note the ratchet tie strap also used around the bottom, I really didnt want that thing getting away from me!
Once I was happy with the positioning of all four sides, i drilled and doweled
as luck would have it, my cordless drill battery ran out of juice with 3 holes yet to drill in the headboard side!
EVERYTHING is such a PROCESS with me!!
The final assembly will use the dowels as guide pins to align everything, because I saw no other way to put it together with glue on all the joints and try to hold it all together. I plan to secure the dowels in the sides, and open the dowel holes in the foot and head board pieces just enough so they will slide over the dowels effortlessly, but when glued, will add to the structural integrity of the unit as a whole.
Well thanks for looking!
Till next time
